In 2017 I spent a year in Berlin. I immersed myself in a 6-month government-initiated program mainly for refugees called “Integration Course”. In these daily meetings we learned the German language through topics on culture, history and politics of Germany. I was part of a group of about twenty refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants from all over the world. This experience resulted in a series of paintings from homes of Syrian refugees. I gave the paintings to the individuals and was moved by the impact of that act.
